Sciatic Pain Caused By Constipation

Sciatica Animation

Sciatica or sciatic neuralgia is a commoncondition in which one of the spinal nerve roots of the sciatic nerve is compressed resultingin lower back, buttock and leg pain. Sciatic nerve is a large nerve derived from 5 spinalnerve roots: L4, L5, S1, S2 and S3. It runs from the lumbar spine through the buttockdown the leg and the foot on the posterior aspect. There is one sciatic nerve on eachside of the body. Typically, only one side of the body is affected.A typical sciatica pain is described as a sharp shooting pain in the lower back, downthe buttock, thigh and leg on one side of the body. There may also be numbness, burningand tingling sensations. The pain can get

worse with sitting, moving, sneezing, or coughing. The patterns of pain depend on which nerve root is compressed, and follow the dermatomedistribution. The most common cause of sciatica is a herniatedspinal disc. The spinal disc is a soft elastic cushion that sits in between the vertebraeof the spine. With age, the discs become rigid and may crack, the gellike center of thedisc may protrude out and become a herniation outside the normal boundaries of the disc.Disc herniation presses on the nerve root as it exits the spine. In majority of the cases the condition resolves by itself after a few weeks of rest and conservativetreatment. Pain relief, nonsteroidal antiinflammatory

drugs and muscle relaxants may be prescribed.Stretching exercises and physical therapy may be recommended.Surgery may be needed if the pain doesn't go away after 3 months or more of conservativetreatments. The herniated disc may be removed in a procedure called discectomy. Or, in anotherprocedure called laminotomy, part of the bone of the vertebrae may be cut to make room forthe nerve.

Shooting Back Pain While Pregnant

I need your advice regarding shooting backpain while pregnant. Don't do yoga when pregnant unless it ispregnancy yoga. I know you aren't supposed to do serioustwists when pregnant because you're already carrying a load up front. And I haven't done yoga since getting pregnant. It doesn't have to be yoga. Sitting in front of the sink and twistingto reach a glass instead of turning to then reach for it can do it.

It isn't just one specific muscle groupstrained when reaching up. If you were leaning down to pick somethingup with your back or just leaned down and reached too far, you could pull a muscle inthe back. I can't say there is a specific action whereit suddenly started hurting. If you only feel it when you lay down, that'sa common problem. Your back starts to hurt as soon as you stopcarrying that front and center load. It hurts when I'm walking too. When you are in early labor, the uterine contractionscan be mistaken for back pains.

And if you go for a walk, which helps thebaby shift into the birth canal, will make the pains worse. That usually comes with rhythmic muscle contractions. You'll know it is early labor if you haveback pains only in the lower back plus pelvic pressure or bloody discharge. If the muscle pains are in the upper back,it definitely isn't labor. I haven't had pelvic pressure since my lasturinary tract infection. If the pelvic pressure is accompanied by pulsingpain front or back and burning when you pee,

then it may be a bladder infection. Now I'm glad I have always sought treatmentfor urinary tract infections before it got that bad. If there is back pain plus fever, it is atleast a bladder infection if not kidney infection, though hopefully not as severe as appendicitis. And here I was thinking it was something commonlike sciatica. If you've had sciatica before, know thatpregnancy can make it worse because you're straining the muscles all over again.

And I thought carpal tunnel syndrome gettingworse was bad enough. Sciatica is marked by the shooting pain inthe lower back and butt, maybe radiating down to the leg, though it can come with numbnessor tingling too. That is akin to carpal tunnel syndrome. The sciatic nerve under pressure due to pregnancyor already pressed due to biological issues and it gets worse with pregnancy is like carpaltunnel syndrome, but instead of having an excuse to order house cleaning and dinnerout, you have trouble walking. That means I'd definitely have to get medicaladvice.

Or treatment with something other than hotand cold packs that are safe to take when pregnant. It may not be sciatica. Sporadic pain in the back can be due to arthritis, though you'd probably have had that before now only made worse by pregnancy's strainon the joints. I'm not old enough. Remember that practice contractions feel likeback pains and stomach cramps, though it can be mistaken for bad constipation.
